Order that Six
Apprentices and no
more be permitted
to go out on Sundays
and not more than
Two to be seen together

regard to the Boys going abroad on Sundays, that none
should be permitted to go out till after Divine Service in
the Afternoon, we are very sorry the Conduct of any of the Boys
should excite your Worships to the adopting such an Order
being sensible that many of them have been heretofore absent
from Chapel without leave the Conduct of whom for the future
we think very requisite should be examined into. But hope
that your Worships will be pleased to mitigate the severity of
the Order by allowing us to go out with our Masters leave
for a Day at particular times many of our Friends living
some distance from Town and Sundays being the only time
that we have an Opportunity of going to them in
Consideration of which we humble hope for your Worships
Indulgence." This Court having duly weighed and
considered the said Petition doth Order that Six Apprentices
and no more be permitted to go out on a Sunday with
leave of their Masters Provided that not more than
two be seen together agreeable to an Order of Court of
the 13th. of February 1765.
