Upon Reading a Letter from Mrs. Mary Lapthorne< no role >
the Matron Addressed to the Right Worshipful the President &
the Worshipful governors of Bridewell and Bethlem Hospitals
in the Words following "Gent". If it was not for my Indisporsition
I should think it my indispensible Duty to wait on you in Person
of 34 Years and in particular for the kind mark of your
Attention expressed at the last Court. It is a Subsistance that
will enable me to spend the remainder of my Days in comfort
and it is with chearfulness I resign my Office and be Assured
that I shall ever remember how much I am Indebted for your
Worshipful Indulgence & pray for your Healths and Property
I am with due respect Your most Obedt. humble Servant
Mary Lapthorne< no role > : It is Ordered that her resignation
be Accepted and the Vacancy of a Marton is now Declared and
the President is pleased to appoint the Feast Day for the
Election

Gratuity to Porter


A Motion being made that in regard to the extraordinary
diligence of Mr John Brown< no role > the Porter of this Hospital a
Gratuity be given for his good Services for the time past &
the sum of £39being proposed and the Question put
It is Ordered that the Clerk do pay the said John Brown< no role > £39
to be allowed him in his next Account.

Gratuity to Mr. Lapthorne


It is Ordered that Mrs. Mary Lapthorne< no role > the Matron
of this Hospital have a Gratuity of 20 Guineas on Account of
her Age Infirmities and Ill State of Health and that the Clerk
do pay the same be allowed in his next Account

Do. to Beadles & Portersman


Upon Reading the Humble Petition of the four Beadles
and Porter Man of this Hospital for theirs Gratuites of £5
each for the half Year at Midsummer last (their Salaries being
small) It is Ordered that the Clerk do give and pay unto
them £5 each to be allowed him in his next Account

Trecothick Barlow Esqr.
his Legacy reported


At this Court Mr. President reported that Barlow Trecothick< no role >
Esqr . by his Will dated 25th. January 1774 Gave a Legacy of
£200 to Bethlem Hospital .
