They all professed themselves to be of the Church of England
as by Law Established and the Committee upon the best Inquiry
they could make have no reason to Object to the Characters of
any of them or their Shill in their respective Trades all which is
Submitted to the Judgment of the Court and Ordered to be
Reported at the next CourtThis Court proceeded to an Election
of two Artmasters and the several Humble Petitions of the said
Thomas Whitaker< no role > of Salisbury Court Fleet Street Taylor and
Roger Owen< no role > of Moor Lane Moor Fields Ribbon weaver being
severally read (the said John Ball< no role > and George Jackson< no role > not
Attending) each settingforth he is willing to take such a Number
of Apprentices as the Court shall order and keep his Appartment
in Repair with Glazing Plaistering and White washing at his
own Expence and to Comply with all Orders of Court and Committee
made and to be made in relation to Artmasters and each praying
to be Admitted an Artmaster The Question was put That the said
Thomas Whitaker< no role > and Roger Owen< no role > be Admitted Artmasters of
this Hospital it passed in the Affirmative Whereupon the
Rights Worshipful Sir Richard Glyn< no role > knt . Bart. & Aldn .
President Declared the said Thomas Whitaker< no role > and Roger Owen< no role >
duly Elected And it is Ordered that the said Thomas Whitaker< no role >
and Roger Owen< no role > (each producing a Copy of his Freedom of this City
and delivering a Certificate of his last legal Settlement to the Clerk
be Admitted an Artmaster of this Hospital untill the next
Election Day and to have such Appartments as the Committee of
this House shall think proper upon giving such Security as has been
Usually done in the like Case and that the Journeymen which they
shall Employ in their Trades shall be such as have Served their
Apprentiship in this Hospital
