Continued Thursday 16 April 1767

Artsmaster in the Room of Edward Grinsell< no role > (who resign'd
his place as an Artsmaster of this Hospital) Caused an
Advertisement to be Published several Times in the Daily
Advertiser and Gazetteer from the 12th. to the 26th. of Decr.
last both days Inclusive as follows Vizt. Bridewell
Hospital An Appartment of one of the Artsmasters
in this Hospital being now Vacant any Broad weaver of
good Character who is Inclineable to fill up the Place
may give in his Name at the Clerks Office (where he
will receive further Information) any Morning before
the 26th. day of December Instant Soon after which there
will be an Election"and Accordingly two Broad weaver s
left their Names & Notice being given to them that the Commee
would meet this Day to consider of the several Applications
that had been made the following persons Attended & brought
samples of their WorkVizt.

Church Broad weavers }

They both professed themselves to be of the Church of England
as by Law Established & the Committee upon the best Inquiry
they could make have no reason to Object to the Character
of either of them or their Skill in their Trade All which
is Submitted to the Judgment of the Court and Ordered to
be Reported to the next Court

This Court proceeded to the Election of an
Artsmaster and the several Humble Petitions of Fras.

Setting forth That he is willing to take such a Number
of Apprentices as the Court shall Order And to keep his
Apartment in Repair with Plaistering Glazing & Whiting
at his own Expence And to Comply with all Orders of the
Court and Committee made and to be made in Relation
to Artsmasters and each Praying to be Admitted an
Artsmaster The governors gave their Ballots which
being Cast up the Number appeared to be for each as
follows Vizt.

Whereupon the Right Honourable Sir Robt. Kite< no role > knt .
Lord Mayor declared the said Thomas Reynolds< no role > duly Elected And it
is Ordered that the said Thomas Reynolds< no role > (producing a
Copy of his Freedom of this City and delivering a Certificate
his last legal Settlement to the Clerk) be Admitted an
Artsmaster of this Hospital until the next Election Day
