Continued Wednesday 16th. Novr. 1763.

And Lands called Barston Farm in the County of Kent under and by Virtue of a Lease granted
thereof to your Petitioner for 21 Years at the Yearly Rent of Eighty Pounds which Term with Empire at
Michaelmas 1766

That the Mansion House and other Buildings and outhouses on the said Farm (which are
very Numerous and Extensive) are very Ancient and greatly out of Repair and will require a
Considerable Sum to Support and uphold the Same and In Regard your Petitioners Term is so near
Expiring your Petitioner Purpose to take a New Lease of the said Farm for 21 years to commence
from the End of the Said Term before granted at the Same yearly Rent your Petitioner now (pays for
the same and will put the said Mansion House and Buildings in Tenantable Repair provided
Your Worships will Include a certain Coppier or Wood called Bromley Wood containing between
6 and 7 Acres (which Always until the last Lease was Granted to Your Petitioner was let with the
said Farm) in the Said new Lease to be granted to your Petitioner with liberty to Cut and fell
the same Coppier at proper Seasons conformable to the Custom of the County wherein the same
Premes lye

Your Petitioner therefore prays your Worships that a New Lease may be made and granted
to him for the said Term of 21 Years commencing as aforesaid upon the Terms and Conditions above
Mentioned and that your Worships will be pleased to Order that the said Coppier or Wood
called Bromley Wood be Included in the said Lease with Liberty to cut and fill the Same
According to your Petitioners said proposal and your Petitioner shall ever pray Etc. It is
Order'd that the said Petition be referred to the Committee of this House to Consider
the same and Report their Opinion thereon to the Court

Upon Reading the Humble Petition of Richard Bates< no role > Pin Maker Setting forth
That he Served his Apprentiship in this Hospital to Jeffry Gillingham< no role > by Indenture
Dated 12 Febry 1750 and by Order of Court the 25 May 1758 he was Made free of this City
the 27 June 1758 and is Set up for himself in his said Trade in Salisbury Court Fleet
Street and Praying some part of Mr. Locks Gift It is Ordered That Henry Kynaston
Southouse
< no role > Esqr . Mr. Charles Vere< no role > and Mr. John Twynihoe< no role > or any Two of them be desired
to Enquire if the said Richard Bates< no role > be set up for himself in his said Trade and of his
hopefulness therein and Report to the Court

Mr. Samuel Bates< no role > one of the governors Reported that in Pursuance of an Order
of Court of the 4 of August last he had made Enquiry and found that Francis Grove< no role >
who Served his Apprentiship in this Hospital to Joseph Ketteridge< no role > in Set up for himself
in his said Trade and has the Character of a Diligent and Sober Man It is Ordered
that the Steward Do Pay the said Francis Grove< no role > Ten Pounds out of Mr. Locks Gift
to be Allowed him in his Next Account
