Continued Thursday 13th. Novr. 1755

Whereupon the Comittee Order'd the foll Apprentices to be kept to hard Labor at the
Hemp blocks till further Order And that not of the other Apprentices shoud be
Suffered to Speak to 'em Viz.

Samuel Band< no role > , Alban Leman< no role > , Thos. Pallant< no role > This name instance is in set 25282529. , & Richd. Williams< no role > , who were in both Riots,
James Woodroffe< no role > , John Philips< no role > , Charles Winchester< no role > , Francis Elton< no role > & Andrew Weller< no role >
who were in the Riot at Bartholomew fair.

Francis Groves< no role > & William Brookson< no role > who were in the Riot in Southwark
And that Leman & Pallant shou'd be kept in Mathew's hole Seperate from the
rest And that Philips shoud Lye there at Nights.

And this Comittee are of Opinion that Alban Leman John Philips &
Thomas Pallant, be Corrected in the Presence of the rest of the Apprentices
and then Stript & turn'd out of the Hospital & the rest comended to the favor of the Court.

Edward Brookes< no role > run away in the Morning before the first meeting of the Comee
& was brought home to Mr. Burnhams house the 1st. Instant Sick of a Feaver & is not
not yet well for which reason the Comittee did not Order him to the blocks

Thomas Presly< no role > Apprentice to Morleir having been very Disorderly most part of
his Apprenticeship & frequently out late of Nights, This Comittee have Order'd him
to Work at the Blocks And are of Opinion he should be Corrected in the Presence
of the rest of the Apprentices.

Upon the whole the Comittee are of Opinion The fault is Cheifly in the
Artsmasters, And that such Disorders would not have happend if the Repeated
Orders of the Govrs. for the Apprentices being kept at Home on Holydays & other
Orders had not bean Neglected by the Artsmasters, One of whom said he wou'd
obey 'em if he knew 'emAnd upon Inspection of the Books finding many
Orders made at Great Distances of time and Blending Sevl. Matters Together
The Comittee are of Opinion that Orders concerning the behaviour of
Artsmasters, the behaviour of Apprentices and the Duty of the Beadles and
Porters man Relative to the Artsmasters and Apprentices Shou'd be ranged
under these 3 distinct heads & Printed and [..] up in Each Artsmasters Shop
and in the Lobby, Court Room & Dineing Room of this HospitalAnd for that
Purpose the Comittee have Drawn up the Substance of former Orders with some
Variations & Additions which the Comittee think proper as follows.

Artsmaster's duty 1st..


That every Artsmaster shall follow his Apprentices to the Chappel & see him
all in their places every Sunday and 30th. Janry 29th. May & 5th. of November both
Morning & afternoon before Divine Service begins and continue there with them till
it is endedAnd if any Artsmaster shall be Absent he shall send his reason in
Writing Signe'd by him to the Clerks house Every Sunday after evening season Pain of being
Expelled this House.

2d. That no Artmaster shall do or Cause to be done any work belonging to his Trade on a Sunday

That every Artsmaster shall keep his Apprentices in his Appartment on Holydays
and he himself shall stay at home the Evenings during the time of Bartholomew
& Southwark fair in Order to keep his Apprentices there.

4th - That no Artsmaster shall suffer any of his apprentices to lay out at a Night without leave
of the President, Treasurer or Comittee but shall give Notice in writing to the Clerk of
the Hospital the next Morning after every breach of this Order

5th - That no Artsmaster shall on any Pretence whatsoever take Money or Notes
of any Apprentice or his Friends upon Pain of Expulsion.
