Upon Reading a Report from the Comittee of this House
dated 30th. Octr 1754 under the hands of Robert Alsop< no role > Esq Aldn.
Trear Mr. Deputy Martindale Mr Calvert Benn Edwd. Umfreville< no role > Esq
Mr Richard Reily< no role > , Mr Roger Altham< no role > & Mr Henry Hall< no role > as follows
This Comittee took into Consideration the Petition of Ann
Arbuthnot
< no role > (referr'd to them by the Court 25th. Octr 1754) SettingforthThat
she holds 2 Messes & a Wharfe on the Southside of Wapping Street under
a Lease from the Governors of Bridewell Hospital to John Merrihurst< no role >
which will expire at Xmas 1755 O.SAnd one house on the Northside
of Wapping Street Adjoining Eastward to the Sign of the Ship (formerly the
Bullhead ) which is the South East Corner house of Wapping Dock Street
which two houses are held under a Lease from the sd. Governors to the sd.
Merrihurst which will Expire at Laday 1755And proposed to take
the sd. two Houses on the Northside of Wapping Street from Lady day 1754
for ¾ of a year to Xmas 1755 at the rent of £3And to take a Lease
of all the abovemention'd premes from Xmas 1755 O.S for 21 years And
throughly to repair the sd. Houses to rebuild the sd. Wharfe & Wharfeage house
thereon of Brick instead of Wood (as it is at present) And to pay £6 P Ann
rent clear of Taxes & to pay a Fine of £150And the sd Mr. Arbuthnot
being called in an Ask't to mend her said Proposal she Declined the
same but being called in a 2d. time Offered to make the rent £8 P Ann.

And Mr Hugh Roberts< no role > of the Parish of St. George in the County of
Middx Brewer having sent in to this Comittee a Proposal for the same Premes
he was called in & his sd. proposal was read as followsTo take a Lease
of the said Premes on the Southside of Wapping Street from Xmas 1755
for 21 yearsAnd of the sd. 2 houses on the Northside from Laday 1755
for 21 years ¾ of a year and to pay £7..10rent clear of Taxes for the sd.
2 houses for the first ¾ of a year to Xmas 1755 And for the 21 years
thence next ensuing to pay all the sd. Premes the Yearly rent of £30
clear of Taxes by Even quarterly Payments at the Four Usual Feast days
and to Layout £500 in Rebuilding & Repairing the sd. Premes within
two years from the Comencement of the sd. Term of 21 yearsAnd to
Execute Counterpart of such Lease with Usual Covenants between
the Governors of the sd Hospital and their Tenants at Wapping And being
Ask't to mend his sd. proposal he declined itAnd being called in
a 2d. time and Ask't to mend his sd. Proposal he said he cou'd not
Whereupon this Comittee having fully Considered the sd. two
Proposals are Unanimously of Opinion to Accept the Proposal of the sd.
Mr Hugh Roberts And he being called in & Acquainted therewith Agreed
thereto and gave Two Guineas to the Poors CoxAll which is
Nevertheless Submitted to the Judgment of the CourtThis Court
having duly Weighed & Considered the sd. Report Doth Confirm the
same And Order that a Lease be made to the sd Mr. Roberts Accordingly
