Upon reading the humble Petition of John Palmer< no role > of the parish of St. Andrew Holborn
in the County of Middx Carpenter and Thomas Carpenter< no role > of Bridewell Precinct Timber
Merchant settingforthThat the Petr. Palmer agreed to take a Lease of the Govrs. of
three Houses No. 15 on the North side of Crown Alley and the Ground whereon the same
are built and the Yard thereto belonging scituate within the Precinct of the Hospital
of Bridewell being part of the possessions of the said Hospital for 21 years to com [..]
from Michas 1738. at the Yearly Rent of £12 payable quarterly clear of all
Parliamentary or other Taxes and to pay a Fine of £35. and to lay out £50. in
repairing the premes and under certain Terms and Conditions in the said Agreement
containedThat the Petr. Palmer hath said out £200. and upwards in repairing
the premes, and is desirous that the said Lease may be made to the Petr. Thomas
Carpenter
< no role > who is willing to accept thereof on the same Terms & Conditions as the same
was intended to be granted to the Petr. John Palmer< no role > , and is forthwith to pay the
said Fine of £35.And praying that the said Lease may be made to the
Petr. Thomas Carpenter< no role > accordinglyIt is Ordered that the said Lease be made
to the said Thomas Carpenter< no role > accordingly.

At this Court Samuel Nash< no role > a poor boy was ordered to be put out Apprentice at
the nomination of Mr. Robert Henshaw< no role > .

Apprentice to be free


At this Court John Robertson< no role > who served his apprenticeship in this Hospital to
Mr. John Burnham< no role > one of the Artsmaster s by Indre dated the 18th. of Decr. 1730 .
was ordered to be made free of this City.

Upon reading the humble Petition of John Jackson< no role > Weaver settingforthThat
he served his apprentice ship in this Hospital to Mrs. Mary Gethin by Indre dated the
10th. day of Decr. 1725 and by an Order of Court the 21st. day of august 1735 he was
on the 17th. day of April 1739 made free of this City and is set up for himself in
his said Trade atMr. Raffords in Great Tunn Yard in Whitechapple
and the Court being informed that the Comee of this House on the 13th day of
July instant inspected the book kept of Apprentices behaviour and found no
complaint against himIt is Ordered that Mr. Richard Bridgman< no role > Mr.
William Brent< no role > and Mr. Robert Hall< no role > three of the Governors of these Hospitals
or any two of them be desired to inquire whether the said John Jackson< no role > be set
up in his said Trade and of his hopefullness therein and to make their Report
to the next Court.

Beadles Gra ½ yr Midsr

Upon reading the humble Petition of the four Beadles of this Hospital for
their usual Gratuitys of Forty Shillings a peice in respect of the half year
ending at Midsummer last for that their Salarys are but small It is Ordered
that the Clerk of these Hospitals do give and pay unto them Forty Shillings
a peice to be allowed him in his next Account.

Basketmen do.


Upon reading the humble Petition of the three Beadles or Basketmen of the
Hospital of Bethlem for their usual Gratuitys of Twenty shillings a peice
in respect of the half year ending at Midsummer last for that their Salarys
are but small It is Ordered that the Clerk of these Hospitals do give and
pay unto them Twenty Shillings a peice to be allowed him in his next Account.
