Upon reading the humble Petition of William Seans< no role > of Poor Jury
Lane near Aldgate settingforthThat he is desirous to take of the Govrs.
of this Hospital three Several Leases of the Houses & Ground hereafter
mentioned Vizt. Lease of two Houses in Bridewell Precinct late in the
Occupation of Thomas Pate< no role > &Pointer and five Houses near
thereunto adjoyning one of which is in the Occupation of Jane Quartermain< no role >
Widow and the other four were late in the Tenure ofWalker
CraneHutchenson & Levi Giden< no role > but now emptyone the Lease
of 8 Houses in Bridewell Precinct , 3 of which were late in the possion of
Dunn and 4 late in the possion of Clove Cock
Phillips &Nicholas & the other thereof is now in the Occupation
of Carpenterone other Lease of a Wharfe Warehouse & Stable
called Pigskey late in the occupation of Pether and 2 small Tenemts.
late in the Occupation of Ippsley and one other house near to the same part of
the possions of this HospitalAnd proposes to take such Leases there of
for the Term of 41 years from Midsummer next at the Rent of £16. P Ann
for the prmes contained in the first Lease£21 P Ann for the premisses
contained in the second Lease£13. P Ann for the premisses contained in
the third Lease payable quarterly clear of all Taxes and to lay out £500.
in repairing the premisses and with such Covenants as are usually contained
in the Leases from the Govrs. to their Tenants at Bridewell and with a Covt.
to pay to the Chappell Wardens of the said Precinct for the time being any Sum
or Sums of money Quarterly in proportion with other Inhabitants in the said
Precinct towards the Charge of the Scavengar Watch & Poor of the said Precinct
as shall be rated or assessed from time to time at the usual meetings of the
Chappel Wardens & Inhabitants of the said Precinct and to pay a fine of £250
for the whole premisses and to execute Couterparts of the said Leases
And praying Leases thereof according to his said proposalsIt is Ordered
that it be referred to the Comittee of this House to consider of the said
Petition & to report their opinion therein to the Court.

Mr Nathaniel Edmonds< no role > represented to this Court that upon his making a proposal to
Erect the New Building for Incurables at the West end of Bethlem Hospital to be answerable
to the Building erected at the East end He found a great Quantity of Rubbish left at the
said East end which made the lower part there of not fit for any use, and therefore to
make the lower part of the said Building fit for warehouses, as it now is, he carted away
1576 Yards of Rubbish which at £14½ P Yard which he paid for the same besides digging
amounts to £95-4- Which he prayed to be allowedas also £35 for so Cradle
Bedsteads which he has sett up at the said West end, and which he conceives are not
comprized in his Agreement He likewise reprsented it as a Hardship that after the
Comee had agreed with him for £3991 which was the lowest offer made the Court
reduced the Sum to £3950 Whereupon It is referred to Mr Bishop Mr Cooper two of
the Govrs of these Hospitals together with another person to be nominated by the said
Mr Edmonds to examine into the matters aforesaid and report Opinion therein
to this Court.
