Upon an alarm that the prisoner had taken away a trunk, I looked out and saw the prisoner throw the trunk down which he had taken out of my waggon; I took it into my waggon at Cheshunt to bring to town; the trunk has not been out of my custody since; the gentleman who owned the trunk has had many things out as he was going into the country.

PRISONER's DEFENCE.

The waggoner said he could not see me take the trunk, and offered to take money to make it up.

I was present when the waggoner said he was at too great a distance to see the man; that many people were about, and if he would give him a guinea he would make it up.

PROSECUTOR. They offered me a guinea, but I would not accept of it.
