<p n="2963">particulary mentioned and described and then of the yearly<lb></lb>
value of £450 and no more To hold to and to the use<lb></lb>
of the said Mayor and Commonalty and Citizens<lb></lb>
and their Successors for ever And his Majesty King<lb></lb>
Edward by the same Letters Patent ordained that the<lb></lb>
Hospitals therein mentioned when thus founded and<lb></lb>
established should be one Body Corporate and Politic<lb></lb>
for ever and should be called by the name of the<lb></lb>
Governors of the Possessions Revenues and Goods<lb></lb>
of the Hospitals of Edward the Sixth King of<lb></lb>
England (that is to say) Christ Bridewell and<lb></lb>
Saint Thomas the Apostle for ever and should<lb></lb>
have one Common Seal for the use of the Hospitals<lb></lb>
with power to make such Ordinances Statutes and<lb></lb>
Rules as might be necessary for the good Goverment of<lb></lb>
the said Hospitals.</p>
<p n="2964">That upon an Inspection of the several Books or<lb></lb>
Records belonging to the said Hospitals respectively it<lb></lb>
appears that soon after the foundation of the said<lb></lb>
Hospitals respectively and until in or about the<lb></lb>
year 1557 the affairs of such several Hospitals<lb></lb>
were managed and transacted by or under the<lb></lb>
direction of certain of the Aldermen of the said City<lb></lb>
and of some other persons who appear to have been<lb></lb>
appointed or admitted Governors of the said<lb></lb>
Hospitals at Courts or Committees held for such<lb></lb>
Hospitals respectively and that in or about the<lb></lb>
said Year 1557 the said Hospital of Saint<lb></lb>
Bartholomew was united to the rest of the said<lb></lb>
Hospitals and such Hospitals from thenceforth<lb></lb>
continued under the direction of such certain<lb></lb>
Aldermen and other persons as Governors until<lb></lb>
in or about the year 1564 in which Year it</p>
