That the said Church is scituate<lb></lb>
within the scite of the said hospitall and by vertue of certaine Grants made by<lb></lb>
king Edward the sixth vested in the Maior Comonalty and Citizens of the <rs type="placeName" id="LMTHMG55301_geo517">City of<lb></lb>
London</rs>

the Cheife Governors of the said Hospitall and is thereby exempted from all<lb></lb>
and all manner of Archiepiscopall Episcopall and Archdiaconall visitacon or<lb></lb>
Jurisdiccon whatsoever And that by reason thereof the said <rs type="persName" id="LMTHMG55301_n1432-4">Thomas Wright</rs>

Did<lb></lb>
in the name of the Governors of the said hospitall protest against any visitacon now<lb></lb>
designed or intended to be held or made in the said Church And declared that they<lb></lb>
absolutely dissent thereto.</p>
<p n="1433">To which the said Surrogate Answered and Declared That he did not<lb></lb>
appoint this Visitacon to be held in the said Church neither does he come thither to<lb></lb>
exercise assume or Challenge any Jurisdiccon in or over that Church as it relates to the said<lb></lb>
hospitall nor to Occasion any Doubt Question or Dispute as to the Exemption of the said<lb></lb>
Church from such Visitacon or Jurisdiccon And that the visitacon now appointed to<lb></lb>
be held there had not been so appointed, but by reason that the Church of <rs type="placeName" id="LMTHMG55301_geo518">St. Saviour</rs>

(where the same hath been hertofore usually held) is now repairing and not fitt for the<lb></lb>
performing of Divine service, and hearing a Sermon nor to hold any Visitacon therein<lb></lb>
And by reason of the shortnesse of the time since he understood the holding this<lb></lb>
visitacon in this Church as aforesaid would be opposed by the said Governors no other<lb></lb>
Church could be conveniently appointed And he further declared that if the said<lb></lb>
Intended visitacon be permitted by the Governors to be now held in the said Church<lb></lb>
of St. Thomas the same shall not be drawne into Example nor made use of as a<lb></lb>
President or ever given in Evidence for bringing or Subjecting the said Church<lb></lb>
to or under the visitacon or Jurisdiccon of the said Bishopp of <rs type="placeName" id="LMTHMG55301_geo519">Winton</rs>

or his<lb></lb>
Successors nor shall in any sort lessen or prejudice the Right of the said Church<lb></lb>
to be exempt therefrom but that the Right of the sd Church to be Exempt from such visitacon and Jurisdiccon shall be and remaine of<lb></lb>
the same force and Effect as the same would have been if this visitacon<lb></lb>
should not have been appointed or held in the said Church as aforesaid.</p>

<p n="1435">Mems that the Doores of the Church were kept shutt, till Dr. Bramston came<lb></lb>
and then the protest being made to him at the Church Doore, he went from thence into the<lb></lb>
Great Hall of the<gap reason="illegible"></gap>
hospitall where he made and signed the abovewritten Declaracon<lb></lb>
And then Mr: Treasurer and some other Governors went back with him to the Church and<lb></lb>
permitted the Doores to be opened But by Agreement made with the Doctor The Old<lb></lb>
Church Wardens of this parish gave in no presentment nor were the New Church</p>
