<p n="1272">Sheweth</p>
<p n="1273">That dureing the late Warr with France the <rs type="occupation" id="LMTHMG55301_occ897">Governors</rs>
<interp inst="LMTHMG55301_occ897" type="occupation" value="Governors"></interp>
were pleased<lb></lb>
to admitt into this Hospitall very great Numbers of Sick and Wounded Seamen<lb></lb>
most of whose Cases were very dangerous and hazardous. Amputations were very<lb></lb>
frequent and the Care and Attendance of <rs type="occupation" id="LMTHMG55301_occ898">the Physitian</rs>
<interp inst="LMTHMG55301_occ898" type="occupation" value="the Physitian"></interp>
and Surgeons and the<lb></lb>
Expence of the <rs type="occupation" id="LMTHMG55301_occ899">Apothecary</rs>

and Surgeons Medicines dureing great part of that<lb></lb>
Warr were increased (as your Petr: conceive they may justly affirme) to one Third<lb></lb>
more then the Ordinary Business of the house required they having cured in<lb></lb>
that time above Four Thousand Seamen besides great Numbers of Soldiers and<lb></lb>
other patient.</p>
<p n="1274">That the Comr: for sick and Wounded Seamen takeing Notice hereof gave<lb></lb>
Encouragement to yor: Petr: and the other Surgeons and <rs type="occupation" id="LMTHMG55301_occ900">Apothecary</rs>

to hope that<lb></lb>
Gratificacon might be Obtained from the Government for such their Extraordinary<lb></lb>
Care and Attendance and Expence of Medicines And thereupon Yor: Petr: and<lb></lb>
the other Surgeons and <rs type="occupation" id="LMTHMG55301_occ901">Apothecary</rs>

about seven or Eight yeares since as well to avoid<lb></lb>
being guilty of a Breach of the Orders of this House as to make their request<lb></lb>
for a Gratificacon more Effectuall did apply themselves to a grand Comittee for Lease<lb></lb>
to Sollicite for such Gratificacon and prayed their Countenance and Assistance<lb></lb>
therein Which as Your Petr: apprehended they fully obtained that Comittee being<lb></lb>
pleased (as Yor: Peticonr: their Understood it) to desire <rs type="occupation" id="LMTHMG55301_occ902">Sr</rs>

may appear in the Minutes of that Comittee the Notice thereof being Omitted<lb></lb>
as your Petrs: believe by reason the said Comittee was just Risen or Riseing at the<lb></lb>
time when your Petr. and the others concerned attended them yett your Petr.<lb></lb>
humbly hope the truth of this Fact will Evidently appear from the Accompt those<lb></lb>
Gentlemen and Mr: <rs type="persName" id="LMTHMG55301_n1274-3">William Coatsworth</rs>

give thereof to whose Memories in this point Yor: Petr Referr themselves.</p>
<p n="1275">That not only those Gentlemen but also Mr. Smith the late Trear was pleased<lb></lb>
soon afterwards to waite on the said Comrs: with yor: Petrs: and the other Surgeons and<lb></lb>
Apothecary and to request a Gratificacon for them and as your Petrs: remember<lb></lb>
Mr: Trear also prayed some Allowance to the Hospitall towards the Charge of<lb></lb>
Rebuilding which the Comrs: said was not in their power to Comply with but as to a<lb></lb>
Gratificacon for yor Petrs: and the other Officers they would recommend it to the Treasurer<lb></lb>
and use their best Endeavours in due time to Obtaine some thing for them or to that<lb></lb>
Effect But at that time it was not thought propper to proceed farther in it.</p>
<p n="1276">That yor: Petr: being Eldest Physitian and Eldest Surgeon thought themselves<lb></lb>
chiefly concerned to look after this Affaire and depending upon the Comr: promise<lb></lb>
called severally time afterwards at their Office to Inquire what was done therein And<lb></lb>
