this Court, And also Mr Browne the City Bricklayer who were<lb></lb>
all of Opinion, That a new Bridgewould occasion a Rise of<lb></lb>
the Water there, which may Indanger the Over flowing of the<lb></lb>

President departed this Life the 6th: of February last, And that the<lb></lb>
Grand Committee had appointed a Generall Court to be held this day for<lb></lb>
Chooseing another President, and other Business; Which being Somoned<lb></lb>
accordingly. The Rt. Honorable the Lord Mayor Sr. <rs type="persName" id="LMTHMC55201_n1700-2">William Stewart</rs>

to Succeed him. His Lordship was pleased to Urge that the Lord<lb></lb>
Mayor being named first in the Charters of the Foundacons of this<lb></lb>
and the other Great Hospitalls in and about London, He was advised<lb></lb>
That upon the Death of the President of any of those Hospitalls<lb></lb>
A Respect was to be had to the Chaire, And that the Mayor for the<lb></lb>
time being should be consulted as to the time for Holding a Court<lb></lb>
to Choose a new President; To the end, That he may be present<lb></lb>
at it, if he please; And this happening to be Sessions week, He<lb></lb>
could not attend a Court on Thursday; That Evening, and the next<lb></lb>
Morning his Lordship was Attended by Mr Treasurer, Mr Raper<lb></lb>
and Mr. Lockwood. And Mr Trear shewed his Lordship and<lb></lb>
some of the Aldermen an Extract from the Reportorys of our<lb></lb>
Generall Courts, begining 1 o. March 1649: whereby it<lb></lb>
