Parish and of the Trythes there to belonging</p>
<p n="303">That by an Act of Parliament passed in the 17th. Year of the<lb></lb>
Reign of his present Majesty entilled "An Act for the better Relief<lb></lb>
and Employment of the poor of the parish of <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMPS50894_geo255"> <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMPS50894_geo256">Saint Mary Abbots</rs>

and for other the Purposes therein<lb></lb>
mentioned" it is amongst other Things enacted that certain Rates on<lb></lb>
Assessments shall be made by Virtue of that Act for the Relief of the<lb></lb>
Poor of the said Parish</p>
<p n="304">That before the passing of the said Act the said <rs type="persName" id="LMSMPS50894_n304-1">James Wallen</rs>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50894_n304-1" type="given" value="James"></interp>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50894_n304-1" type="surname" value="Wallen"></interp>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50894_n304-1" type="gender" value="male"></interp>
<lb></lb>
and his Predecessors were never rated or assessed towards the Relief of the<lb></lb>
Poor of the said Parish more than £4. a Year by two equal half Yearly<lb></lb>
Rates or Assessments</p>
<p n="305">That soon after the passing of the said Act Vizt in the Year<lb></lb>
1777 or 1778 the said <rs type="persName" id="LMSMPS50894_n305-1">James Wallon</rs>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50894_n305-1" type="given" value="James"></interp>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50894_n305-1" type="surname" value="Wallon"></interp>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50894_n305-1" type="gender" value="male"></interp>
having been surcharged to the Poor<lb></lb>
of the said Parish in Respect of his vicarial property under the said Act<lb></lb>
he appealed therefrom and in Regard that it appeared that he and his<lb></lb>
Predecessors had never been rated more than £4 a Year as aforesaid and<lb></lb>
that he had been in the Habits of burying the poor of the said parish</p>
