<p n="1911">Mr. Adams being interrogated as to the manner of passing Vagrants<lb></lb>
gave the following Account Vizt.</p>
<p n="1912">That they are in general passed by Horses and Carts - That sometimes<lb></lb>
when they are able he gives them Money to Walk.</p>
<p n="1913">That he sends them of on Tuesdays and Fridays</p>
<p n="1914">That each Cart carries Nine Persons</p>
<p n="1915">That there is One Horse and One Man to each Cart.</p>

<p n="1918">That the Cart to <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMPS50809_geo1708">Cheshunt</rs>

returns the same day.</p>
<p n="1919">That the Vagrants stay with him till the Cart returns.</p>
<p n="1920">That they are allowed 3d per day subsistence while with him and Six<lb></lb>
Pence per day while on the Road.</p>
<p n="1921">That he has at present Three Men and Two Horses and Carts.</p>
<p n="1922">That he has not hired any Men Horses or Carts in Addition thereto for<lb></lb>
Three Months as the Vagrants have not been so heavy for four Months<lb></lb>
last past</p>
<p n="1923">That from April 1784 to April 1785 he had three and sometimes four Horses.</p>
<p n="1924">Upon Investigation of this Subject This Committee are of Opinion That<lb></lb>
Mr. Adams should be allowed £100 in Addition to his Salary of £250 for<lb></lb>
One Year commending April 1784 and ending in April 1785 in consideration<lb></lb>
of the extraordinary Trouble and Expence he was put to by the great<lb></lb>
increase of Vagrants during that Period as stated in his Petition</p>
