That about ten Years ago, your Petitioner purchased<lb></lb>
a Freehold Messuage or Tenement called Grove House, in the<lb></lb>
said <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMPS50784_geo33">Parish of Chiswick</rs>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50784_geo33" type="placeName" value="Parish of Chiswick"></interp>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50784_geo33" type="type" value="undefined"></interp>
, together with about Eighty Acres of Land<lb></lb>
thereunto belonging, and a small Messuage or Dwelling house<lb></lb>
thereunto also belonging of the yearly Value of about Forty pounds.</p>
<p n="36">That the said small Messuage or Dwelling house, and<lb></lb>
the Stables and Out buildings belonging to the Premises, so<lb></lb>
purchased by your Petitioner being in a very Ruinous State and<lb></lb>
Condition your Petitioner caused the same to be pulled down<lb></lb>
and rebuilt the Stables and Out Offices upon the old Foundations,<lb></lb>
but did not rebuild the said small House, nor any other Buildings<lb></lb>
on the Scite thereof.</p>
<p n="37">That the Mode of rating the Inhabitants of<lb></lb>
<rs type="placeName" id="LMSMPS50784_geo34">Chiswick</rs>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50784_geo34" type="placeName" value="Chiswick"></interp>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50784_geo34" type="type" value="undefined"></interp>
for the Relief of the Poor is at two Thirds of the<lb></lb>
yearly Value.</p>
<p n="38">That at the time your Petitioner purchased the two Houses<lb></lb>
and other Premises, and for many Years before, they had always<lb></lb>
been rated at Three hundred pounds a Year, but in the Year<lb></lb>
1778, (your Petitioner having then pulled down and removed<lb></lb>
the small House) his Rate was reduced to £266 a Year on<lb></lb>
account of the Diminution of the yearly Value and so continued<lb></lb>
to Michaelmas 1782, and (your Petitioner being than Abroad)<lb></lb>
his Rate was then raised to £466 a Year, which his Servant<lb></lb>
paid in his Masters Absence for the Year ending at Michaelmas<lb></lb>
1783, the Officers threatning to Distrain for the same, no Appeal</p>
