<p n="495">After our very hearty Commendations to your Grace, Whereas<lb></lb>
his Majesty's Service doth at this time require a Speedy Supply of<lb></lb>

to Man his Majesty's fleet which is <lb></lb>
now fitting out: We do therefore, by his Majesty's Command, hereby<lb></lb>
pray and require your Grace to call upon the <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMPS50714_occ220">Justices of the Peace</rs>

Rotulorum, and strictly enjoin and require them to cause all<lb></lb>
Stragling Seamen, who are fit to serve on Board his Majesty's <lb></lb>
Ships, to be taken up and sent by proper persons from place to<lb></lb>
place until they shall be brought to the Clerks of the Cheque of <lb></lb>
his Majesty's Yards at <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMPS50714_geo467">Deptford</rs>

, Woolwick, Chatham, Sheerness,<lb></lb>

, Plymouth, or to the Naval Officer at Harwich or<lb></lb>
Deal, according as those places shall be nearest to where such<lb></lb>
Straggling Seamen shall be taken up, that so they may be put<lb></lb>
on Board such of his Majesty's Ships or Vessels as shall be<lb></lb>
appointed to receive them; and that there be paid to the Persons<lb></lb>
who shall be intrusted with the conducting them by the aforesaid<lb></lb>
Clerks of the Cheque or Naval Officer twenty Shillings for each<lb></lb>
Seaman fit for his Majesty's Service, and six pence a Mile<lb></lb>
for every Mile they respectively travel, not exceeding twenty Miles<lb></lb>
But that if the Men so taken up shall be sent to any place<lb></lb>
where no such Clerk of the Cheque or Naval Officer doth reside,<lb></lb>
that then the same allowance be paid to the Conductors by the<lb></lb>
Collectors or proper Officers of the Customs residing at or nearest to<lb></lb>
the place whereunto they shall be brought, (out of the money to be<lb></lb>
furnished them for that purpose by the Lords of his Majesty's <lb></lb>
Treasury as heretofore) upon Certificates from the Captain or</p>
