felt a Shock of an Earthquake.</p>
<p n="475">Smyrna, Aug. 8. We have been hitherto preserved from the<lb></lb>
Plague; but since the 23d of last Month we have had many Shocks<lb></lb>
of Earthquakes, Viz. on the 24th two, on the 25th one, the 26th<lb></lb>
two, the 27th one, the 2d of this Month one, and the 4th also one,<lb></lb>
These Calamities make the Inhabitants afraid of returning to their<lb></lb>
Houses, which are mostly so damaged, that they are in Danger of<lb></lb>
falling every Minute, and Workmen so searce, and Materials so<lb></lb>
dear, that few can have their Dwellings repaired.</p>
<p n="476">Constantinople, Aug. 17. After an Assemblage of the Grand Visir,<lb></lb>
and other Members of the Government, at the Musti's, it was re-<lb></lb>
ported the Enterprise against Crimea was resolved upon.</p>
<p n="477">Our Accounts from the Danube mention, that great Discontent<lb></lb>
reigns among the Troops there, 4000 of whom are said to have<lb></lb>
deserted at once, and gone towards Moldavia.</p>

in the Archipelago, and on broad the Quoman Fleet, is Dreadful;<lb></lb>
it has also appeared in a small Village in the Venetian Estates.</p>

the King enjoys perfect Health. On the 2d of this Month his Ma-<lb></lb>
jesty was on Horseback from Six o' Clock in the Morning till Two<lb></lb>
in the Afternoon, to assist at a general Foraging, which was effected<lb></lb>
under his Direction. On the 4th of this Month the King's Quar-<lb></lb>
ters were at Lauterwaffer, and nothing material had happened.</p>

Austrians Suffer more by Desertion among their Troops than we do<lb></lb>

was consided to Lieut. Billerbeck with 40 Men: This Post was at-<lb></lb>
tacked by 600 Austrians but Mr. Billerbeck defended himself so<lb></lb>
well they were obliged to retire, after a share Engagement of two<lb></lb>
Hours; the Loss of the Austrains must have been very considerable<lb></lb>
by the Quantity of Arms, Hats, and Caps, that wer found; Six<lb></lb>
Men were found dead, and some wounded; the Enemy certainly<lb></lb>
