last past the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor<lb></lb>

aforesaid did make a Rate and<lb></lb>
Assessment for the Relief of the Poor of the said Parish for<lb></lb>
the present Year One thousand seven hundred and seventy<lb></lb>
three at two shillings in the pound and which Rate and<lb></lb>
Assessment was Signed and Allowed by two <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMPS50637_occ214">Justices of<lb></lb>
the Peace</rs>

for the said County on the first day of November<lb></lb>
following and was Published in the said Parish Church<lb></lb>
on Sunday the fifth day of December Instant.</p>

another Inhabitant<lb></lb>
of the same Parish pretending that their respective Rents<lb></lb>
in the Book of Poors Rate for the year One thousand<lb></lb>
seven hundred and seventy two were charged or sett too<lb></lb>
high (altho' they never thought fit to Appeal from the same)<lb></lb>
and on that pretence having hitherto refused to pay the<lb></lb>
Poors Rate for that Year as so Assessed they requested and<lb></lb>
the rest of the Officers then present Agreed to permit these<lb></lb>
two persons Rents and their Rates for this Year One<lb></lb>
thousand seven hundred and seventy three to be left in<lb></lb>
blank till the Justices at a Petty Session (who they imagined<lb></lb>
had a Power) should settle their Rents and Rates for the<lb></lb>
year One thousand seven hundred and seventy two if they<lb></lb>
had Authority so to do.</p>
