<p n="84">The Humble Petition of the several <lb></lb>
Journey men Taylors in the said City.</p>

<lb></lb>
That by an Act of Parliament made in the 7th. Year of the Reign of <lb></lb>
King George the first for regulating the <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMPS50540_occ27">Journeymen Taylors</rs>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50540_occ27" type="occupation" value="Journeymen Taylors"></interp>
within the weekly Bills of <lb></lb>
Mortality It is amongst other Things enacted that the Hours of Work for all Journeymen<lb></lb>
Taylors <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMPS50540_occ28">Servants</rs>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50540_occ28" type="occupation" value="Servants"></interp>
and Apprentices to Taylors and other Persons employed or to be employed <lb></lb>
or retained as Taylors in making up Mens or Women's Cloaths or such Servant or<lb></lb>
Apprentices within the Citys of London and <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMPS50540_geo84">Westminster</rs>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50540_geo84" type="placeName" value="Westminster"></interp>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50540_geo84" type="type" value="undefined"></interp>
or either of them or within the <lb></lb>
Weekly Bills of Mortality shall be from Six of the Clock in the Morning untill Eight of the <lb></lb>
Clock at Night Excepting only that there shall be allowed by the Master one Penny half <lb></lb>
Penny a Day for Breakfast and one Hour for Dinner in the Time aforesaid and for the said <lb></lb>
Time or Hours of Work aforesaid there shall be paid unto every Journeyman Taylor or <lb></lb>
other Person employed or to be employed or retained as a Journeyman Taylor for his<lb></lb>
Work during the Hours aforesaid the Wages and Sums following (that is to say) From <lb></lb>
the 25th. Day of March to the 24th. Day of June any Sum or Sums not exceeding Two <lb></lb>
Shillings a Day, and for the rest of the Year One Shilling and Eight Pence a Day.</p>
<p n="86">That the Legislature then perceiving it would be reasonable and necessary upon <lb></lb>
some Occasions thereafter to alter the Wages and Hours of Work aforesaid It is thereby <lb></lb>
further enacted that it shall and may be lawfull to and for the <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMPS50540_occ29">Justices of the Peace</rs>

in <lb></lb>
their respective Jurisdictions within the Limits aforesaid at their General Quarter <lb></lb>
Sessions and they are thereby authorized and required upon Application to be made to then <lb></lb>
for that Purpose to take into their Consideration the Plenty or Scarcity of the Time, and <lb></lb>
other Circumstances necessary to be considered and to alter the Wages and Hours of <lb></lb>
Work aforesaid And to order and appoint what Wages and Allowances shall be paid <lb></lb>
or made to <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMPS50540_occ30">Journeymen Taylors</rs>

and Servants retained or employed in the Art or Mistery <lb></lb>
of a <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMPS50540_occ31">Taylor</rs>

as aforesaid within the Limits aforesaid and what Hours they shall<lb></lb>
work and shall make such Alterations therein from Time to Time as such Justices <lb></lb>
