<p n="285"> HER Majesties Justices of the Peace for this County now Assembled<lb></lb>
at this General Quarter Sessions of the Peace, holden for the Coun<lb></lb>
ty, do in pursuance of the late Statutes relating to the Punishing<lb></lb>
and Passing of Vagrants, hereby Order, Ascertain, and Set down,<lb></lb>
That the several Rates which hereby are, and shall be allowed by any Justice or<lb></lb>
Justices of the Peace for this County, to any Constable or other such Officer of<lb></lb>
this County, for maintaining and conveying and carrying of such Vagrants as<lb></lb>
shall be pasted or carried through their respective Divisions in this County, for<lb></lb>
this Year 1703. and until the End of the then next Quarter Sessions of the<lb></lb>
Peace to be held for this County after Easter next, shall be as followeth:</p>
<p n="286"> (That is to say) For Maintaining of all and every such Vagrants, the F<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
Six Pence for each Vagrant Person for Four and twenty hours, and so af<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
Rate for a longer or Shorter time: And for Conveying and Carrying<lb></lb>
Vagrant or Vagrants Names are contained in one Pass, conveyed<lb></lb>
alone or together, a<obscured></obscured>
or turn by Care or Horse-Carriage,<lb></lb>
Six<obscured></obscured>
Mile ar<obscured></obscured>
re: And for conveying of such Vagrant<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
or<obscured></obscured>
under and<obscured></obscured>
Six pence per Mile, according to the<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
the respective Justic<obscured></obscured>
Peace for this County, who shall sigh<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
Passes, or Certificate<obscured></obscured>
allowance. But if any of the Justices ot<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
of this County shall<obscured></obscured>
fit and fee good Cause to Allow and Order<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
greater Rates for the maintaining, conveying, and carrying of any su<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
grant or Vagrants to be conveyed and carried as aforesaid, by reason<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
Vagrants Sickness or Impotency, or by occasion of any other Extraordinary<lb></lb>
Accident; that then so much of the said Greater Rates as shall exceed the Ra<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
hereby before Ascertained, shall not be paid unless the same be first communi-<lb></lb>
cated and certified to the Justices of the Peace of this County, at the next Gene-<lb></lb>
ral or Quarter Sessions of the Peace held for this County, after the maintaining,<lb></lb>
conveying and carrying of such Vagrants, and shall be approved and allowed of<lb></lb>
by the said Court of Sessions. And this Court is of the Opinion, and doth de-<lb></lb>
clare that no Person or Persons whatsoever, except such as are Vagrants by Law,<lb></lb>
ought to be received, maintained, conveyed, and carried through this County<lb></lb>
by virtue of the said Acts of Parliament for passing of Vagrants as aforesaid,</p>
