Her Maties Justices of the peace for this County now assembled at this

Generall Quarter Sessions of the peace holden for this County doe in

pursuance of the late Statutes relateing to the punishing & passing of

vagrants hereby Order ascertain & Sett down that he severall Rates-

which hereby are & shall be allowed by any Justice or Justices of the

peace for this County to any Constable or other such Officer of this

County for maintaining and conveying & carrying of such

Vagrants as shall be passed or carryed through their respective

Divisions in this County for this yeare 1703 and untill the End of the

then next Quarter Sessions of the peace to be held for this County

after Easter next shall be as followeth.

(That is to say) For maintaining of all & every such Vagrants the Rate of

Six pence for each Vagrant pton for four & twenty hours & Soe after
<
lb

lb
>
that Rate ford longer or shorter time And for conveying & carrying
<

lb
>
of any Vagrant or Vagrants whose Names are contained One Pass
<
lb

</
lb
>
conveyed or carryed alone or together at One time or turn by Clerk
<
lb

</
lb
>
or Horse Carriage the Rate of Six pence p Mile and noe more And
<
lb
>
</
lb
>
for conveying of such Vagrants on Foot under & less then Six pence p
<

lb
>
Mile according to the discretion of the respective Justice of the peace
<

lb
>
for this County who shall Sign any such Passes or Certificates
<

of Allowance But if any of the Justices of the peace of this County
<

shall think fit & see good cause to allow & Order more or greater

Rates for the maintaining conveying & carrying of any such

Vagrant or Vagrants to be conveyed & carryed as aforesaid by

reason of such Vagrants Sickness or Impotency or by Occasion of

lb
>
any other exterordnary Accident that then See much of the Said

lb
>
greater Rates as shall exceed the Rates hereby before ascertained

>
shall not be paid unless the same be first comunicated & certified
<
lb
>
</
lb
>
to the Justices of the peace of this County at the next Generall
<
lb

lb
>
or Quarter Sessions of the peace held for this County after

lb

lb
>
the maintaining conveying & carrying of such Vagrants and shall
<

>
be approved & allowed of by the said Court of Sessions And this-

Court is of the Opinion & doth declare that noe pson or psons
<

whatsoever except such as are Vagrants by Law ought to be

received maintained conveyed & carryed through this County
<
lb

by vertue of the said Acts of Parliament for passing of Vagrants
<
lb

as aforesaid.
