4. Years next April<lb></lb>
I visit the Prison every Day sometimes 2 and 3<lb></lb>
times in the Day and frequently at Nights<lb></lb>
the Prisoners are generally in a very good<lb></lb>
state of health and seldom any Fevers<lb></lb>
amongst them, I think there cant be a whole some<lb></lb>
place than the Prison is, It is particularly Dry<lb></lb>
both in the Cells and every part of the Prison<lb></lb>
I have made severals Experiments to try<lb></lb>
whether there was any Damp and have<lb></lb>
hung up Sea Weeds in the Cells and in my own<lb></lb>
Apartments at the same time and have found<lb></lb>
the Weed in the Cell us dry quite as in my own<lb></lb>
Apartments and I have found little or no<lb></lb>
difference between the lower Cells and the<lb></lb>
Upper - I went into the Cell Cold. Despard<lb></lb>
was formerly in which had been shut up 4 or<lb></lb>
5 Weeks (from the 25th. November to 26th. - December)<lb></lb>
and found it perfectly dry in every respect<lb></lb>
not withstanding the Season - I never know<lb></lb>
that any Prisoner received the least Injury<lb></lb>
from being Confined in the Cells except on the<lb></lb>
21st. of November 8. Women that had not been long<lb></lb>
brought from Newgate were much Indisposed<lb></lb>
with Fevers which had some symptoms of<lb></lb>
putridity, I had them immediately removed -<lb></lb>
into a Room a distance from the other Prisoners</p>
