Whereas at the General Session of the Peace for this County holden by<lb></lb>
Adjournment on Thursday the 20th. day of February last past an Order of<lb></lb>
referrence was made Reciting that a Presentment had been made at the then<lb></lb>

said Bridge against a Certain Wharf in the Possession of the said Mr. Wood was<lb></lb>
very much decayed by time and the Force of Water on that side the River and<lb></lb>
that the Abutment and foot of <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMGO55605_geo335">the Bridge</rs>

had been Damaged thro' the defects<lb></lb>
and decay of the said Campshot and would be in continual danger if not<lb></lb>
Effectually repaired the whole length of the Wharf to Secure the said Abutment<lb></lb>
from the great Force of Water and after some Enquiry made of William<lb></lb>
Cracknell and <rs type="persName" id="LMSMGO55605_n364-16">William Westbrook</rs>

Questioned to whom it belonged to repair and maintain the said Campshott<lb></lb>
and front of the said Wharf which hath for a long time been in the Possession<lb></lb>
of the said Mr. Wood and his Ancestors and now upon further debate of the said<lb></lb>
Question in the presence and hearing of the said Mr. Wood who Alledges and<lb></lb>
Insists that he is not by reason of his Tenure or otherwise at Law Chargeable<lb></lb>
with the repair and maintenance of the said Campshot but that the<lb></lb>
Inhabitants of this County have hitherto repaired and maintained and of right<lb></lb>
ought to repair and maintain the same for the Security and Preservatrion of<lb></lb>
the said County Bridge and that the said Campshot hath accordingly been,<lb></lb>
repaired at the Public charge about forty years ago and after inspection of<lb></lb>
