<p n="1031">Now upon Reading and duly considg. the Report of the Committee<lb></lb>
appointed to Examine and Report what Benefit hath arisen to this<lb></lb>
County from an Order of Session dated the<gap reason="illegible"></gap>
July 1757 relating to the<lb></lb>
apprehending and conveying Vagabonds</p>
<p n="1032">This Court are of Opinion that the said Order of Session hath been<lb></lb>
productive of great Benefit to this County in the following Instance Vizt.</p>
<p n="1033">By lissening the Expence of this County on the Article of Vagabonds<lb></lb>
upwards of £350 the year the said Order look place compared with the<lb></lb>
Preceeding Years; and if the whole Magistracy of this County had conformed<lb></lb>
themselves to the said Order the Expence then would have been lessened<lb></lb>
£500 and upwards.</p>
<p n="1034">By the Cautions given in the said Order of Sessions respecting<lb></lb>
Frugality in disposing of the Public Money paid to the apprenhenders<lb></lb>
of Vagabonds, that Article decreasd upwards of £178 the last Year<lb></lb>
compared with the preceeding Once.</p>
<p n="1035">By putting an effect strong to the granting Vagarant Passes<lb></lb>
to casual Poor, where As<obscured></obscured>
had been committed, the<lb></lb>
Orders of conveying are there by lessened upwards of 700. compared<lb></lb>
with the Year Preceeding.</p>
<p n="1036">By produceing more regular Proceeding upon the Vagrant Act<lb></lb>
particularly a much large Number of Duplicates of Passes and<lb></lb>
Examinations appear to have been returned to Sessions in<lb></lb>
Proportion to the Orders issued for Rewards to the appprehenders of<lb></lb>
Vagabonds, whereby the Conviction of incorrigible Rogues is rendred<lb></lb>
more certain.</p>
<p n="1037">And this Court are of Opinion that the accosting the furthers<lb></lb>

and<lb></lb>
clearing the Bridewells of <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMGO55604_geo1455">Clerkenwell</rs>

<interp inst="LMSMGO55604_geo1455" type="type" value="undefined"></interp>
and Tothillfields and other<lb></lb>
Lodgments four times a Week as mentd. in the sd Report, will<lb></lb>
produce a further saving to this County. And that by conveying<lb></lb>
such Vagabonds by the Means of One P son instead of the<lb></lb>
Constables at large, the Detection of incorrigible Rogues with<lb></lb>
be rendred more certain, and this County be relived from the<lb></lb>
repeated Expence<gap reason="illegible"></gap>
by this<lb></lb>
Return ofter being punished and passed.</p>
<p n="1038">Ordered, That the said James Sturges Adams be<lb></lb>
Contracted with under the Regulations proposed by<lb></lb>
the Report of the Committes, such Contract to take<lb></lb>
Place when the said James Sturges Adams, hath<lb></lb>
resecured</p>
