<p n="1006">to the Sessions, as the said Statude positively requires, and the Order of Session<lb></lb>
so strongly recommends, such Returns would be Records to prove the<lb></lb>
former Panishment of such Vagabonds. Upon the Examination of the Contractor<lb></lb>
Mr Adams's Account, it appears that the hath conveyed 1159 Persons by 622<lb></lb>
Orders, within his Years Contract, which upon a Computation of Seven Shifts.<lb></lb>
an Orders, amounts, to £217..14s (such Computation being Justified by and Inspections<lb></lb>
of the Gross of the Orders the proceeding Year) but if the Sum of £149..13s.. which<lb></lb>
was Ordered contrary to the said order of Sessions be added, it makes the Sum £367..7s<lb></lb>
whence deducting £120 the Contractors Salary and Extra Maintenance the saving<lb></lb>
to the County is sufficient to demonstrate the utility of the said Order of Sessions.</p>
<p n="1007">That upon the whole, the Committee having duty considered the Promisses<lb></lb>
think themselves fully justified in declaring it to be their Opinion, that the<lb></lb>
Order of Sessions of July 14th. 1757. hath been productive of good Consequences<lb></lb>
to this County, by saving a large Sum of the Public Money; and in money Respects<lb></lb>
hath produced more regular Proceeding upon the Vagrant Act; and the Committee<lb></lb>
report it their Opinion, that the Interest of this County is greatly concerned in the<lb></lb>
full and explicite. Compliance of the magistrates to the said Order, and that the<lb></lb>
said Order ought to be inforced by the Sessions by all last full Means; And they<lb></lb>
are of opinion; that if any Opposition should continue to the Efforts of the<lb></lb>
Sessions to save the public Money, considering that the great Sums of Money<lb></lb>
thus expended,have not in the least answered the Intention of the Legistature<lb></lb>
the Nuisance of Beggars still continuing as great as ever; this Court are<lb></lb>
possessed of Facts sufficient to justify an Applications Parliament for<lb></lb>
an Alteration of the Law in this Respect, and to prevent the Dissipation of the<lb></lb>

and that such Application would be beneficial to this and<lb></lb>
other Countries.</p>
<p n="1008">That they then proceeded to take into Consideration, the Proposal of<lb></lb>

referred to them, relating to the conveying.<lb></lb>
Vagabonds from the North, East. and West Parts of this County to their<lb></lb>
respive Settlements, and forwarding those whose Destination is thro' this<lb></lb>
County; and to clear the Bridewells and other Places of Lodgment of Vagabonds<lb></lb>
Hour times every Week, that is to say twice a Week to the North and East and<lb></lb>
twice to the West, and regularly go the Colerbrooke and Stains twice Week; and<lb></lb>
the same to <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMGO55604_geo1430">South Mims</rs>

to receive and convey Vagabonds there<lb></lb>
lodged to their respive Settlements Etc. All which the said Adams proponent<lb></lb>
do for £200 P Ann. and Six pence for each Vagabond for Subsistence in<lb></lb>
their Passage under the Regulations of the Order of Sessions of the 14th. July<lb></lb>
1757 Etc.</p>
<p n="1009">That they have examined the several Orders of Conveying Vagabonds<lb></lb>
from the Ninth East and West parts of this County for tow Years Vizt. from<lb></lb>
