<p n="99">It appearing upon Oath before us that part of a certain Bridge called <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMGO55604_geo171">Chertsea</rs>

Bridge which is in the <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMGO55604_geo172">County of Middlesex</rs>

is very defective and in bad Condition<lb></lb>
and that several of the Braces and some of the Planking which to the Piles had<lb></lb>
been affixed had been torn away by the Violence of the Waters and that divers<lb></lb>
Barges coming thro' the same have been lost and others much damaged and that<lb></lb>
there wants Ballast to be laid on the said Bridge<lb></lb>
We do present that the said Bridge is a County Bridge and that the same<lb></lb>
is very much out of the repair and wants of Reparation and ought forthwith<lb></lb>
to be repaired at the Charge and Expence of the Inhabitants of the said County<lb></lb>

Court by the said Report That on the twenty third day of December last they did<lb></lb>
meet together and took a carefull and accurate View of that past of the said<lb></lb>
Bridge which lies in the said County and upon such View did find that several<lb></lb>
of the Piles thereof were very defective and in bad Condition and several of the<lb></lb>
Braces and some of the Planking which to the said Piles had been affixed had<lb></lb>
been torn away by the violence of the Waters and the Barges coming through the<lb></lb>
same had been last and others much damaged all which the said Committee<lb></lb>
conceived and represented necessary to be repaired with all convenient Speed and<lb></lb>
that by the long use and wear of Carriages the Ballast upon the said Bridge was<lb></lb>
so wasted and worn away that the Wheels of the Carriages actually grated upon<lb></lb>
the planking of the same upon which Account and the imminent danger which line might ensue from the same the said Committee had given Directions for a</p>
