<p n="1411">Searchers, and Such especially, who have been formerly<lb></lb>
concerned in making Bricks and Tyles, or by other means<lb></lb>
may be presumed to understand the Business, tho' they do<lb></lb>
not now follow the Imployment. And that the Searchers<lb></lb>
Should be appointed, not as they are at present for the<lb></lb>
whole County, & with liberty to all of them to Range over<lb></lb>
itt, but that this County Should for this purpose be<lb></lb>
divided into the Four following Districts Vizt.</p>

Edmunton and Gore Divisions, to be a Third<lb></lb>

& Uxbridge Divisions to the Fourth</p>
<p n="1413">And that Four Searchers and noe more be appointed for<lb></lb>
each of these Districts, and to Continue for one year and no<lb></lb>
longer, unless this Court Shall think fitt to rechuse or Continue<lb></lb>
them, in Consideration of their good Service, And that these<lb></lb>
Searchers Doe give to this Court an Account of their proceedings<lb></lb>
in writing on the first Day of every Easter and every Octobe.<lb></lb>
Sessions, that the Court may be the better enabled to Judge<lb></lb>
of their behaviour, and to give them Such further Directions<lb></lb>
as Shall be necessary.</p>
<p n="1414">Your Committee observing also, That notwithstanding the<lb></lb>
Penaltie of Twenty Shillings per Thousand and all the<lb></lb>
provisions in the present Lawes, The Generall Practice<lb></lb>
hath been and Still Continues, to make Bricks with<lb></lb>
Spanish, And being informed that Severall <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMGO55600_occ2082">Brickmakers</rs>
<interp inst="LMSMGO55600_occ2082" type="occupation" value="Brickmakers"></interp>
<lb></lb>
are now Carrying Spanish on their Lands to mix with<lb></lb>
their Brick earth for next Summers Worke, Wee thought<lb></lb>
it our Duty to inspect the Severall Acts of parliament<lb></lb>
relating to Brickmaking in Order to putt a Stop to Such<lb></lb>
irregular proceedings, But wee cannot find in any of<lb></lb>
these Statutes any power lodged in this Court or in any<lb></lb>
Justices of this County, or in the Searchers appointed by<lb></lb>
this Court, Sufficient to prevent of remedy these illegall<lb></lb>
practices, In the Statute of the Twelfth of King George<lb></lb>
the first there are large powers given to the Company<lb></lb>
of Bricklayers to fine and levy by distress twenty</p>
