<p n="551">carried by Mr. Booths Clerk to Mr. Manley where the said<lb></lb>
Cole did affront Mr. Manley when in custody</p>
<p n="552">That soon after Mr. Manley and his Wife were committed<lb></lb>
their Sureties came and proposed themselves to Mr.<lb></lb>
Booth which he approved of Exacted four Recognizances<lb></lb>
for the said offences and took Nine Shillings for the<lb></lb>
Fees thereof Altho all the Facts where with Mr. Manley<lb></lb>
and his Wife were charged might (and Wee are humbly<lb></lb>
of Opinion ought) to have been comprised (at most)<lb></lb>
in two Recognizances For which no more than Four<lb></lb>
Shillings and Eight pence should have been taken</p>
<p n="553">That Mr. Booth took as a Fee for the discharge of Mr.<lb></lb>
Manley and his Wife from their Imprisonment four<lb></lb>
Shillings For which no more than one Shilling ought<lb></lb>
to have been taken</p>
<p n="554">All which matters and things Wee have taken into<lb></lb>
Serious consideration & do humbly Submit to your<lb></lb>
Lordship whether the said <rs type="persName" id="LMSMGO40000_n554-1">William Booth</rs>

hath not been Guilty of a very great abuse of the<lb></lb>
Power granted by the Commission of the Peace and<lb></lb>
whether he hath not very much oppressed the said<lb></lb>

them to Prison for want of it, in Exacting more<lb></lb>
Recognizances than he ought to have done and the<lb></lb>
Fees consequent thereupon And whether he hath not<lb></lb>
been Guilty of Extortion in the Fees by him<lb></lb>
taken for their discharge.</p>
