of the Fellowship of Carmen London</p>

That your Petitioners have for a long time observed<lb></lb>
with concern how very much the Inhabitants resident in Lower<lb></lb>
<rs type="persName" id="LMSLPS15097_n824-1">Thomas Street</rs>

and other Places in this City (where the Stands of<lb></lb>
Carts are appointed) are incommoded and put to very great<lb></lb>
Inconveniences by the continual Standing of Empty Carts not only<lb></lb>
thro' the day time; but much earlier in Summer than is allowed<lb></lb>
by the present Orders of Sessions</p>
<p n="825">That the Inhabitants thereof have repeatedly with<lb></lb>
your Petitioners) endeavoured to remedy this very great Grievance<lb></lb>
both by Prosecutions, and otherwise without Effect</p>
<p n="826">That your Petitioners conceive that a great part of the<lb></lb>
Inconvenience arives, by many of the Carmen carrying very large<lb></lb>
and unlawful Loads of certain Goods not particularly specified in<lb></lb>
the present Orders of Sessions, which if the same were properly<lb></lb>
divided it would occasion a greater succession and dispersion of<lb></lb>
the Carts from and off the different Stands</p>
<p n="827">That your Petitioners in order to regulate and remedy<lb></lb>
this Grievance as far as in them lay have (at a Court of Assistants<lb></lb>
holden at <rs type="placeName" id="LMSLPS15097_geo867">Guildhall</rs>
<interp inst="LMSLPS15097_geo867" type="placeName" value="Guildhall"></interp>
<interp inst="LMSLPS15097_geo867" type="type" value="undefined"></interp>
, of the said Wardens and Assistants on the 9th<lb></lb>
day of February 1769. after making the nicest and best Calculations<lb></lb>
they could, made certain Regulations and Ascertained what<lb></lb>
Quantity of Goods of different Sorts (not specefied in the Orders<lb></lb>
of Sessions) ought to be deemed and carried as a Load and<lb></lb>
Endeavoured to have the same observed by every Free Carman by<lb></lb>
dispersing One Thousand Printed Copies thereof amongst the<lb></lb>
whole Body of Carmen one of which said Copies is hereunto<lb></lb>
annexed.</p>
