charged with picking the Pocket of one<lb></lb>
Mr Platel and this Deponent immediately took them into his Custody and carried<lb></lb>

where they remained till the next day when they<lb></lb>
were taken from thence and carried before the Sitting Alderman at <rs type="placeName" id="LMSLPS15096_geo423">Guildhall</rs>

and upon Examination of the Prosecutor and one other Witness they were<lb></lb>
committed for Tryal at the next Session at the Old Bayley and the Handkerchief<lb></lb>
that Mr Platel's pocket was picked of was given to this Deponent to produce<lb></lb>
when called for on the prosecution of the said two Prisoners and the Alderman<lb></lb>
bound this Deponent over to appear And this Deponent attended at the Old<lb></lb>
Baily on the 14th. 15th. & 16th. of September last in order to have given his Evidence<lb></lb>
and attended with Mr Platel and the other Witness to have the Bill drawn up<lb></lb>
at the Clerk of Arraigns Office at the Session House in the Old Bayley and<lb></lb>
that Mr Platel<gap reason="illegible"></gap>
informed this Deponent that he had<lb></lb>
no occasion to go with them before the Grand Jury to give his Evidence for that<lb></lb>
he Mr Platel and the other Witness would be sufficient And next day this<lb></lb>
Deponent waited on Mr Platel the Prosecutor who informed him it was all over<lb></lb>
and he might deliver him his Handkerchief<del>and</del>
which he did and never expected<lb></lb>
to have heard any thing more about the Matter for being informed so he never<lb></lb>
attended and for that reason and no other did he neglect to give his Evidence and<lb></lb>
had he known the nature of his Recognizance should notwithstanding have<lb></lb>
gone and given his Evidence before the Grand Jury for by not attending he<lb></lb>
finds by Mr Shelton's Letter that he has been lead wrong and that his<lb></lb>
Recognizance is likely to be forfeited which if it is must rim this Deponent<lb></lb>
and his Family therefore most humbly hopes and begs as he hasignorantly<lb></lb>
and not intentionally committed any Crime that his Recognizance may not<lb></lb>
be estreated</p>
