there of the Inhabitants of the said City for the recovery of the<lb></lb>
damages sustained by your Petitioner on the 7th. of June 1780 by the Rioters pulling<lb></lb>
sown and demolishing his swelling Houses and other Buildings and his Household Goods<lb></lb>

<p n="122">That such Action came on to be and was tried before Mr Justice Buller and a special<lb></lb>

1781 as the <rs type="placeName" id="LMSLPS15093_geo114">Guildhall</rs>

in and for the said City of<lb></lb>
London when a Verdict was found for your Petitioner for the Sum of £18,729.0.10 being<lb></lb>
the Amount of the Damages so by your Petitioner sustained on the Account aforesaid<lb></lb>
And that your Petitioner soon afterwards got his Costs of the said Action and Suit taxed<lb></lb>
and settled by the proper Office of the said Court of Kings Bench and the same were<lb></lb>
taxed as the Sum of £ 244.19.2</p>
<p n="123">That your Petitioner on the 21st July 1781 obtained and signed final Judgment in<lb></lb>
the said Action against the said Defendants for his said Damages and Costs makings<lb></lb>
together the Sum of £19,974 which said Judgment now remain entred up of Record<lb></lb>
in the said Court</p>
<p n="124">That the then <rs type="persName" id="LMSLPS15093_n124-1">Lord Mayor</rs>

said City in Sessions Assembled did soon after (by force and virtue of the several Acts<lb></lb>
of Parlimant enabling them in that behalf) only make their Order or Orders of Session<lb></lb>
and issue the<obscured></obscured>
Precept and Precepts for raising and levying and collecting on the<lb></lb>
Inhabitants at large of the said <rs type="placeName" id="LMSLPS15093_geo115">City of London</rs>

the said Sum of £18,974 to be<lb></lb>
paid to your Petr. for his said Damages and Costs according to the directions of the<lb></lb>
said several Acts of Parliament and that Rates being made on the Inhabitants the<lb></lb>
Moner thereby assessed and collected were by the Collectons paid into the <rs type="occupation" id="LMSLPS15093_occ56">Chamber of the City</rs>

but such Rates and Collections turnes out insufficient for paying your Petitioner the<lb></lb>
whole of his said Damages and Costs for that the Monies raised and collected for your<lb></lb>
Petitioners and paid into the said Chamber of London did but amount to the Sum of<lb></lb>
£18,650.16.8 whereby the same was deficient for discharging your said Petitioners</p>
