Wee find that at the time of making the statute of 8 & 9 Wm.<lb></lb>
3d. the only way used to Indersing Bank Notes was by writing on<lb></lb>
the Backside of the said notes in Black Ink But that Upon the<lb></lb>
28th. November 1696 and ever Since the Way has been to write<lb></lb>
all Payments Upon and cross the writing of Bank Notes as above a<lb></lb>
and that Such writing has all along ever Since the using thereof<lb></lb>
been comonly called Endorsemts. of Such Bank Notes<lb></lb>
Whether the aforesaid fact be felony wth. in the said Statute<lb></lb>
is the Question on each Indictmt.</p>
