Sunday morning the Twenty fifth day of July Instant about<lb></lb>

in the said Road he heard the<lb></lb>
foot steps of some persons walking before him in the afoot way<lb></lb>
(he this Informant being himself in the middle of the Horseway<lb></lb>
that he listened and was attentive to the foot steps going<lb></lb>
behind the Turnpike house in the footway and that he<lb></lb>
continued in the Horse way and walked through at the<lb></lb>

And further Saith that a little before he came to a lane<lb></lb>
which leads from the said Turnpike Road to this Informant house<lb></lb>
he saw two persons at the Edge of the foot way turning towards<lb></lb>
this Informant, at that time he immediately stopped, that one<lb></lb>
of the man appeared to be a tall an and the other a short<lb></lb>
man, they immediately came up to this Informant and the<lb></lb>
short man struck this Informant on the left side of his head with<lb></lb>
a large stick he had in his hand and repeated his blows<lb></lb>
till he knocked Informant down on the Ground and then he<lb></lb>
kneeled down and picked this Informants pocket of<lb></lb>
three shillings and six pence and some paper And that<lb></lb>
during the nine the short was riffling his pocket the tall<lb></lb>
man cut him several blows on the head with a Hanger<lb></lb>
and Swore he would Murder him, then this Informant called<lb></lb>
out Murder several times, upon which Informants wife and<lb></lb>
daughters hearing it they came out at the door with a light<lb></lb>
upon which they immediately ran into the adjoyning field<lb></lb>
And further Saith that <rs type="persName" id="LMOBPS45028_n2212-3">Joseph Nash</rs>
