<p n="23">on (being an experienced sailor, and the only son of a wealthy farmer in the south of England, who had at different times made him owner of two ships, the value of which, with their cargoes, he squandered away in lewdness, drunkenness and riot) forced the master and offiers who were on board, with one cabin-boy, nine in number, into the long-boat, left then by them to the mercy of wind and waves.
