The Minutes of the last Vestry of the 10th. Septr. being read<lb></lb>
and Confirmed, Mr. Maynard took notice that there had been<lb></lb>
a Misunderstanding with the <rs type="placeName" id="GLDBMV30502_geo207">New River</rs>

Company respecting<lb></lb>
an Incroachment on the <rs type="occupation" id="GLDBMV30502_occ524">Meadow</rs>

at Ware, he had therefore<lb></lb>
applied to Mr. Milne the Surveyor and shew'd him a Copy of<lb></lb>
the Original Purchase Deed belonging to the Parish, and had<lb></lb>
been promised that the Stakes fixed on the Parish Estate should<lb></lb>
be removed with out further Controversy.</p>

Mr. Maynard further observed that there had been no<lb></lb>
occasion to erect a new Stove in the Vestry Room, but that the<lb></lb>
old Stove and the Brick work had been put in compleat<lb></lb>
Repair.</p>
<p n="1894">Mr. Church Warden Arch then acquainted the Gentlemen<lb></lb>
present that this Vestry was held pursuant to public notice<lb></lb>
given in the Church for the annual Election of Parish Officers<lb></lb>
and on other affairs.</p>

Mr. Pope then stood up and desired leave to make a<lb></lb>
Motion previous to the Election of Church Warden, and said that<lb></lb>
the Fine for Church Warden had been for a long time Forty<lb></lb>
Pounds, which he Concerved was too high, and prevented many<lb></lb>
Gentlemen from Fining: that as a sum of Money would be<lb></lb>
required to pay for the Repairs of the House in Philpot Lane<lb></lb>
on Lease to Mr. Theed, the same would probably be raised if the<lb></lb>
Fine was lowerd without any Increase of Rates or Assessments<lb></lb>
on the Inhabitants either to Church or Poor, and therefore<lb></lb>
Moved that the Fine for Church Warden be lower'd to Thirty<lb></lb>
Pounds, and was Seconded by Mr. Jutet.</p>

the Fine to be raised in the year 1763 were still in force; that no<lb></lb>
Gentlemen of Fortune would serve the Office of Church Warden if<lb></lb>
they could be exempted on paying a small Fine; and that it would<lb></lb>
be better for the Parish to raise Money by a Rate, or to borrow<lb></lb>
a Sum for a time (if it should be found necessary upon the<lb></lb>
Audit of the present Church Wardens Account) than to lower<lb></lb>
the Fine. The Question being put on the said Motion. It<lb></lb>
past in the Negative.</p>

that he be excused from serving the said Offices on payment<lb></lb>
of the usual Fine of Forty shillings.</p>
