there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the King, when, how, and by<lb></lb>
what Means the said John Elmsmere came to h is Death, do upon<lb></lb>
their Oath say that the said John Elmsmere not being of Sound Mind<lb></lb>
Memory and Understanding but lunatic and distracted on the twenty<lb></lb>
fourth day of April in the Year aforesaid at the Parish and in the Liberty<lb></lb>
aforesaid To Wit in <rs type="placeName" id="WACWIC65239_geo1409">Kensington Gardens</rs>

a certain Pistol charged with<lb></lb>
Gunpowder and a leaden Bullet which he the said John Elmsmere then &<lb></lb>
there had and held in his right hand to and against the head of him the<lb></lb>
said John Elmsmere did then and there shoot off and discharge by reason<lb></lb>
whereof & by the force of the leaden Bullet aforesaid so shot out & discharged<lb></lb>
from the Pistol aforesaid by force of the Gunpowder aforesaid he the said<lb></lb>
John Elmsmere did then and there a Mortal Wound as fracture on the<lb></lb>
Scull of him the said John Elmsmere of which said Mortal Wound or<lb></lb>
Fracture he the said John Elmsmere did languish and languishing<lb></lb>
did live until the tenth day of July in the Year aforesaid: On which said<lb></lb>
tenth day of July in the Year aforesaid at the Parish and in the Liberty<lb></lb>
aforesaid To Wit at the Suttling House aforesaid of the said Mortal<lb></lb>
Wound or Fracture did die. And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their<lb></lb>
Oath aforesaid do say that the said John Elmsmere not being of sound<lb></lb>
Mind Memory and understanding but lunatic and distracted in<lb></lb>
manner and by the Means aforesaid, did kill himself.</p>
