<p n="695">Limitations and Trusts as in the said Charters or<lb></lb>
Letters Patent are expressed and contained.</p>
<p n="696">And whereas the said Mayor and Commonalty<lb></lb>
and Citizens of the said <rs type="placeName" id="BBBRMG20209_geo109">City of London</rs>

in Pursuance<lb></lb>
and by Virtue of such Charlers or Letters Patent took<lb></lb>
upon themselves the Management and Government of<lb></lb>
the said several Hospials and made several Orders &<lb></lb>
Regulations touching the sameAnd Whereas<lb></lb>
at a General Court holden at Christs Hospitals upon the<lb></lb>
27th. Day of September 1557 by the Governors of all the<lb></lb>
said Hospials It was Ordered and agreed that<lb></lb>
the said Hospital of Saint Bartholomew should from<lb></lb>
thenceforth be united to the rest of the said Hospitals<lb></lb>
and be made one Body with them and that for the<lb></lb>
Government of all the said Hospitals Sir <rs type="persName" id="BBBRMG20209_n696-1">Martin Bowes</rs>

then also an Alderman should be Surveyor General<lb></lb>
and that three Aldermen a Treasurer and eight other<lb></lb>
Citizens therein named and described should be Governors<lb></lb>
for each and every of the said Hospitals and such Hospitals<lb></lb>
respectively from thenceforth continued under the same<lb></lb>
kind of Management with a small Increase of Governors<lb></lb>
down to the Year 1564 when upon the 21st. Day of<lb></lb>
September in that Year (being Saint Mathew's Day)<lb></lb>
A President Treasurer and other Governors were chosen<lb></lb>
at Christs Hospital for each of the said Hospitals and<lb></lb>
these Elections upon Saint Mathews Day were continued<lb></lb>
annually down to the Year 1587 and form that Period<lb></lb>
Courts were at several times held at Christs Hospital<lb></lb>
down to the Year 1652 inclusing for Electing or<lb></lb>
Confirming Governors of the said Hospitals respectively<lb></lb>
but not Yearly or in the same regular manner as<lb></lb>
then to fore and Courts were also held during that Period</p>
