they had not till within 2 or 3 Years last past Assessed the rents Payable to<lb></lb>
the said HospitalMr: Taylor then moved that the Assessment of the<lb></lb>
premisses comprized in the said last mentioned Lease to Mr: Bates to farr<lb></lb>
as the amount of the said old rent of £24 P Annum night be taken off<lb></lb>
and reduced According to the said Act andthen he withdrew and after some<lb></lb>
time a Message was sent out to him that the Comissoners did not think fit<lb></lb>
to reduce or take off any Part of the said last mentioned Assessment</p>

in the Act of Parliament of the 2d and 3d of Queen Anne which you put into<lb></lb>
my hands) is relation to the sending Disorderly Servants Hogues Vagabonds<lb></lb>
and Sturdy Beggars both Man and Boys into His Majesties Service at Sea<lb></lb>
and communicated to their Lordships your Intention of putting the said<lb></lb>
Act in Execution and their Lordships have thereupon Commanded me to <lb></lb>
Acquaint you that this being the first Attempt of the Kind (which they knew<lb></lb>
of) since the Passing the said Act which is now near Forty Years they cannot<lb></lb>
but be Apprehensive that the Example Set by the Magistrates of the <rs type="placeName" id="BBBRMG20206_geo1370">City<lb></lb>
of London</rs>

tothe Destruction of our Seamen and<lb></lb>
Leprising the publick of the Services expected from his Majesties ships<lb></lb>
neither would it effectually Answer the Ends proposed of getting red of<lb></lb>
the Vagabonds becausethey will desert from his Majesties ships the<lb></lb>
first oppertunity and return to their former practice and Manner of Living<lb></lb>
but if Notwithstanding it shall be thought proper to put that part of the<lb></lb>
said Act in Execution their Lordships hope that care will be taken to send<lb></lb>
no persons but who are in Health nor Boys under fourteen years of Age (under<lb></lb>
which Age none are Admitted into the Navy) and well furnished with Cloaths<lb></lb>
Necessaries and Bedding it not being reasonable to convert His Majesties<lb></lb>
Ships of War into Hospitals and disabling them from doing Service against <lb></lb>
the Enemy and in that Case their Lordships will give orders that such of<lb></lb>
the said persons who are Sent by the proper Majistrates shall be received<lb></lb>
on board His Majesties ships andthat proper Care be taken to make<lb></lb>
them Seamen.</p>
