bearing date the 27th. day of March instant in the words following Vizt.<lb></lb>
Permant to an Order of Court of the 26th. day of October last This Comittee have<lb></lb>
Considered of the Vacancy of a Hempdresser in this Hospital and having Searched<lb></lb>
the Books They find that by an Order of Court of the 5th. July 1628 the<lb></lb>
Hempdressers were to have all the Prisoners (part of whom had before that time<lb></lb>
been used to have been Imploy'd in other work) and to allow for a mans Labour<lb></lb>
4d. and for Women and Boys each 2d. P dayAnd by an Order of Court<lb></lb>
7th. May 1647. The Diet of the Prisoners was raised from 2d to 2d ½ P Meal<lb></lb>
And 7th November 1712 the same was by another Order of Court raised<lb></lb>
to 3d. P MealBut the Comittee Observe that altho the price of Labour<lb></lb>
has of late years increas'd as well as the price fo Victuals and Drink yet since the<lb></lb>
Year 1628. which is now very near one hundred years no Augmentation has been<lb></lb>
made of the Allowance from the Hempdressers for the Labour of the Prisoners<lb></lb>
which the Comittee are Opinion ought to bear some proportion to this Charge of<lb></lb>
their Diet (that is to Say) The Hempdressers ought to allow for the Labour of<lb></lb>
every man 6d. And for every woman Boy of Girl 3d. P DiconThe Comittee<lb></lb>
having Discours'd Mr Walde the only Hempdresser now in the House He Says he<lb></lb>
cannot make any greater Allowance for the prisoners Labour than 4d. a day for a<lb></lb>
man and 2d. for a Woman, Boy or Girl, as usual And he refuses to Employ two<lb></lb>
of the late Hempdressers Apprentices who are now Idle in the Hospital And at<lb></lb>
the same time he Imploys several JourneymenIt is Ordered that<lb></lb>
it be referred back to the Comee of this House to receive proposals from other<lb></lb>
Hempdressers and that they Cause the Vacancy of a Hempdresser in this Hospital<lb></lb>
to be advertized.</p>
