<p>Mr. Duncombe. A custom-house officer detected the prisoner with the nails, and asked him how he came by them, he told him a sailor had sold them to him for two gallons of rum, (the bill of parcels found in the bag was deposed to by Johnstone.)</p>

<p>A man desired me to carry the bag of nails for him, and was to give him six-pence and a pint of beer.</p>
