597. William Green proceedingsdefend , was indicted for stealing one piece of stuff damask, val. 40 s. the goods of William Shepherd proceedingsvictim , July the 5th .

William Shephard < no role > . I live in Spittle-fields , and keep a mercer's shop ; I had been out, coming home about one o'clock in the day, I saw the prisoner at the bar walking about my door, looking hard into my shop; as I came near, I saw him go in; he took one piece of Saxon green damask, he put it into his apron, and ran away with it; I ran round a cart and took hold on him, I brought him back to my shop, with the goods upon him.

Another witness depos'd he saw Mr. Shephard take the piece of stuff out of the prisoner's Apron.
