Robert Bretland proceedingsdefend was indicted for offering 20 Guineas &c. to William Henry Marsh < no role > not to appear as an Evidence in a Cause in the High Court of Admiralty against Mr. Trot , for burning a Ship on the High Seas which he had insur'd 400 l. upon, and for arresting him in large Actions where by he was prevented giving his Evidence . But after a long Argument by the Counsel on both sides the Prosecutor for the King could not (for want of proper Evidence) maintain the Indictment, upon which the Court directed the Jury to acquit him.
