Examination TextThe Examination of Dorothy Hopwood in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken this 27th Day of November in the year 1780. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is about 24 years of age, that she never was married, that she was on the 26th Day of October last delivered in the workhouse aforesaid of a female bastard child (since christened Martha) yet living and is become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that John Renoe Junior a Taylor to be heard of his father's in Green Street in the Parish aforesaid did beget on her body the said female bastard Child, and that he the said John Renoe is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year first above written before Jacob Fletcher, William Hyde.
