Examination TextElizabeth Purchase aged about 28 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she never was married, that she was a servant to Philip Teasdale Esq for the space of two years and upwards all at one time, that she had after the rate of 40 shillings a week while she travelled and lodged, that the last four months at the said service was in that part of Bond Street which is in the Parish of St. James within the liberty of Westminster in the County of Middlesex, quitted the same about one year ago, that she hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since. Sworn the 28th day of August 1779 before William Hyde, Sampson Wright.
