Examination TextMary Taaffe aged 38 Years upon her Oath saith that She is the Widow of Jacob Taaffee who Died on the 25th Day of March last and to whom She was Married at St Martins Church on the 10th Day of March 1783 that her said late Husband was a Native of Ireland and never rented Ten Pounds by the Year nor did any Act whereby to obtain a Settlement in England as her said Husband hath informed her & which she verily believes to be true. That before her intermarriage with her said Husband She this Examinant lived a Yearly hired Servant with Mr Joseph Treble of Great St Martins lane in the Parish of Saint Martin in the ffields within the Liberty of Westminster for the space of Thirteen Months & upwards all under one hiring at the Yearly Wages of ffour Pounds Ten Shillings Diet and lodging quitted the same about Nine Years ago since which She hath not lived as a Yearly hired Servant in any one place for Twelve Months together nor done any Act whereby to gain a subsequent Settlement. This Examinant further saith upon her Oath, that She has one Child living by her said late Husband to wit Charlotte born the 1st Day of October 1787.
