Examination TextThe Examination of Elizabeth Gambell Singlewoman taken upon Oath this 2d day of June 1729. Who upon her Oath Saith she is the age of Nineteen Years was never bound an Apprentice never married nor ever a yearly hired Servant for Twelve months together in any one place whatsoever Saith she was born in Castle Street near the Meuse That her ffather ffrancis Gamboll lived in a house of his own in Hedge Lane and paid only 12£ Pr Ann Ground Rent paid allparish Taxes And further Saith that she is now with Child and that one James Lispanns a perukemaker in Godwins Court St Martins Lane had on the 15th day of ffebry last the Carnall knowledge of her Body at a Tavern near Temple Barr in a Room there and severall times since at other places at one which times he got her with Child of a Bastard or Bastards wherewith she now goeth and is pregnant off And that the said James Lispanns is the true and only ffather thereof and no man else
