An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King at the House of Dixon Strachan< no role > This name instance is in a workspace. the Sign of the black Horse orange Court Swallow Street in the parish
of Saint James within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church
of St. Peter, Westminster , in the County of Middlesex , the fifth day of February 1799
in the thirty ninth- Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third,
by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain, France, and Ireland King, Defendder of the Faith,
and so forth, before Anthony Gell< no role > , Esq . Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City
and Liberty, on View of the Body of Robert Stapleton< no role > then and there
lying dead, upon the Oath of the several Jurors whose Names are here under written, and
Seals affixed, good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly chosen, who being then and
there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the King, when, how, and by
what Means the said Robert Stapleton< no role > came to h is Death, do upon
their Oath say that the said Robert Stapleton< no role > not being of sound Mind Memory and
understanding but lunatic and distracted on the thirty first day day of December
in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight at the
Parish & in the Liberty aforesaid a great Quantity of Aqua for tis, being adeadly
poison did then & there take drink & swallow down by means whereof he the
said Robert Stapleton< no role > became then & there sick & distempered in her Body &
of the Poison aforesaid & of the Sickness & Distember thereby occasioned from
the said thirty first day of December until the third day of February
in the year aforesaid at the Parish & in the Liberty aforesaid
did languish and languishing did timeuntilon which said
third day of February in the Year aforesaid at the parish & in the liberty
aforesaid she the said Robert Stapleton< no role > of the Poison aforesaid
& of the Sickness & Distemper occasioned thereby did die. And so the
Jurors aforesaid upon their oath aforesaid do say that the sd Robert
Stapleton
< no role > not being of sound Mind Memory and Understanding
but lunatic and distracted in manner and by the means aforesaid
did poison and kill himself

IN WITNESS whereof, as well the said Coroner as the said Jurors, have to this Inqusition
set their Hands and Seals the Day, Year, and Place first above written.
