An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King at the House of Jane Renner< no role > the Sign of the Bull in St. Annes Court in the parish of
St. Anne Soho within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church
of St. Peter, Westminster , in the County of Middlesex , the twenty seventh & twenty eighth days of June 1798
in the thirty eighth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third,
by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith,
and so forth, before Anthony Gell< no role > , Esq . Coroner of our said Lord the King, for the said City
and Liberty, on View of the Body of a new born female Child then and there
lying dead, upon the Oath of the several Jurors whose Names are here under written, and
Seals affixed, good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly chosen, who being then and
there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the King, when, how, and by
what Means the said female Child came to h er Death, do upon
their Oath say that some person or persons unknown not having the fear of God before his
her or their Eyes but moved and seduced by the Instigation of the Devil on the said twenty
seventh day of June in the year aforesaid withat theforce and Arms at the Parish and in the Liberty
aforesaid in & upon the said female Child, then and there being, in the peace of God and of our
said Lord the King feloniously wilfully and of his her or their Malice forethought, did
make an Assault. And that the said person or persons unknown feloniously wilfully and
of his her or their Malice forethought did neglect, at the Birth of the said female Child,
to tye the Navel-String of the said female Child & that they the said persons unknown
did on the said twenty seventh day of June cast and throw down the said [..]
Female Child into the Are belonging to the Dwelling House of Messieurs Shenton
& Smith Chair. Makers sertuate in Wardour Street within the Parish & Liberty
aforesaid and by reason of whichpatricksaid wilfull neglect as aforesaid the
said female Child then and there died. And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their
Oath aforesaid do say that the said person or persons unknown her the said
Female Child in manner and by the Means aforesaid feloniously wilfully and of
his her or their Malice forethought did kill and murder against the peace of our
said Lord the King his brown and Dignity And that the said Person or Persons
unknown after committing the Felony and Murder aforesaid, withdraw
and fled for the same

IN WITNESS whereof, as well the said Coroner as the said Jurors, have to this Inqusition
set their Hands and Seals the Day, Year, and Place first above written.
